Groundworks / Civils Estimator Location: Pontefract Salary: £70,000 - £85,000 + Package Start: ASAP

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Groundworks / Civils Estimator to join a well-established contractor delivering a range of infrastructure and groundwork projects across the Yorkshire region.

This role will focus on pricing and securing projects across residential, commercial, and infrastructure sectors, working closely with pre-construction and delivery teams.

The business is a reputable civils and groundworks contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work and long-standing relationships with main contractors and developers.

They operate across multiple sectors including housing developments, roads & infrastructure, drainage, and commercial groundwork packages.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare accurate cost estimates for groundworks and civil engineering projects
* Interpret drawings, specifications, and tender documents
* Complete take-offs and BOQs for tender submissions
* Price materials, labour, plant, and subcontract packages
* Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
* Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings
* Identify value engineering opportunities and risk factors
* Work closely with commercial and operational teams to ensure smooth project handover
* Maintain a strong understanding of market rates and industry trends

Requirements

* Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar groundworks or civils estimating role
* Strong knowledge of drainage, foundations, roads, and infrastructure packages
* Experience pricing residential and/or commercial developments
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
* Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
* Confident communicator with client-facing capability
